NATIONAL BEAT POETRY DAY
The second observation day connected with our subject association was conducted on October 7 2025 in observance of national beat poetry day the day was dedicated to celebrating the Beat Generation poets whose revolutionary ideas and unconventional literary styles reshaped the landscape of 20th century American literature
The observation was conducted in connection with the morning assembly, which began as usual with the pledge, prayer, thought for the day, word of the day, and news reading, followed by special programmes related to the observation day. A student delivered a brief speech highlighting the significance of the day, offering an insightful overview of the Beat Generation and its contributions to literature. A major highlight of the programme was a poetry recitation of “Matilda, Who Told Lies and Was Burned to Death” by Hilaire Belloc, performed by a student from the English Department. In connection with the theme, a literary quiz was also conducted, featuring questions from Malayalam, English, and Hindi poetry.
