                    AKHARA SPORTS MEET 2K26

On 7th January 2026, Haneefa Kunju Memorial College of Education, Umayanalloor, hosted the AKHARA SPORTS MEET 2K26 at the college ground. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, aiming to promote physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among teacher trainees, reflecting the institution’s commitment to holistic development.

The day began at 9:00 a.m. with the arrival of the athletes, followed by a well-coordinated march past that displayed discipline, synchronization, and unity. The opening ceremony included flag hoisting and a salute, symbolizing respect, pride, and a commitment to fair play.

The formal proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Shereena Jasmin S, Chairperson of HKMCE, who greeted the guests, faculty, and students warmly. She highlighted how sports play a vital role in nurturing confidence, resilience, and collaboration among future educators. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Lakshmy Natarajan, Principal of HKMCE, who underscored the importance of sports in maintaining physical and mental well-being, especially for teacher trainees entrusted with shaping young minds.

A key moment of the day was the athlete’s oath, led by Ms. Akshara Ajith, Sports Club Secretary (2026), during which participants pledged to uphold honesty, follow the rules, and demonstrate true sportsmanship, reinforcing ethical values in competition.

The sports meet then kicked off with a variety of track and field events, including 100m and 400m races, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, walking events, and a mixed relay. Both men and women actively competed, showcasing determination, enthusiasm, and a strong competitive spirit, making the day vibrant and memorable.

The closing ceremony saw the winners being honoured for their outstanding performances. The prize distribution highlighted the students’ dedication, discipline, and sporting talent. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Aarathy S, Sports Club Secretary (2025), who expressed appreciation to the management, principal, faculty, organizing committee, volunteers, and students for their support and cooperation. In conclusion, AKHARA SPORTS MEET 2K26 was a remarkable success, promoting unity, leadership, and fitness among students while emphasizing the educational and developmental value of sports in teacher training institutions.

I actively participated in track and field events, competing in the 100-meter run, javelin throw, and discus throw. Each event tested a different aspect of my strength—speed, power, focus, and determination—and helped me grow as a disciplined sportsperson.

I was also proud to be a member of our team, HKM Smashers, where teamwork, unity, and sportsmanship played a major role in our journey. Representing the team gave me the opportunity to learn the true spirit of sports, build confidence, and develop leadership and coordination skills that extend beyond the field.
