CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME
Through expressive actions, rhythmic movements, and meaningful lyrics, each stage of psychosocial development—from Trust vs. Mistrust in infancy to Integrity vs. Despair in old age—was vividly portrayed. The action song highlighted the emotional conflicts, social challenges, and developmental tasks associated with each stage, making abstract psychological concepts concrete and memorable.
This activity promoted experiential learning, encouraged active participation, and enhanced conceptual clarity among student teachers. It also demonstrated how psychological theories can be effectively integrated with creative arts in classroom teaching. Overall, the action song served as an innovative pedagogical strategy, strengthening understanding, collaboration, confidence, and communication skills among the participants while making learning joyful and impactful.
🎵 Poem: Erikson’s Stages (to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”) 🎵
Trust, trust, trust your world,
Warm and safe and bright.
If the care is gentle now,
Life will feel alright.
Do, do, do myself,
Autonomy begins.
Let me try and let me learn,
Cheer my little wins.
Play, play, play with joy,
Initiative shown
Guide me well and praise my steps,
Watch my courage grow.
Work, work, work along,
Industry in stride.
Help me try and help me learn,
Success builds inside.
Who, who, who am I?
Identity flies
Let me search and let me dream,
Find my place just right.
Love, love, love someone,
Intimacy is key.
Share my heart and build a bond,
Safe and openly.
Care, care, care for all,
Generativity.
Give the world a better place,
Shape the legacy.
Look, look, look behind,
Integrity finds
If my story feels complete,
Peace will fill my mind.
